sooo
I really am so tired I feel like I am going to faint. but I won't.... I never do. I think it's a subconscious thing, refusing to faint. Some people are just swooners, I'm not. It would be great if I could let myself pass out, bc then I could go home for the rest of the day, but as much as I want to I just can't let myself. I mean, of course I've passed out from consuming too many substances, but naturally just fainting.... nope!
I'm going to Scotland in exactly 2 weeks! I'm really excited, to be in a new country, to see all the famous & innovative performances at the festivals. but also nervous- I will be going with my boss, who is heading the trip, and he always makes me feel like I am never doing enough. Also, I hardly know anyone else on the trip... so it could be good or bad. I didn't know anyone when I went to Italy but I made friends quickly... so hopefully it will be like that. And did you know that the UK pound is worth 2 American dollars?? it's worse than the Euro (which equals about 1.60 American dollars), it's double! well I don't plan on coming back with a whole bunch of stuff... but I would like a little memento or three (ha). I'll work it out.
ummm I've been listening to Tool, and A Perfect Circle (Tool's lead singer's side band), almost nonstop lately. Their music is f-ing brilliant and I can't get enough. I listened to Tool almost everyday when I was a senior in HS... and now I'm in love again. A Perfect Circle has more radio-friendly songs, but is just as amazing as Tool. It's the lyrics that are so deep. They're about life, mortality, addiction, and death (but it's not morbid... at least not to me). So if you are looking for some new music that will blow your mind, here's a starter playlist:
Schism - Tool
Right In Two - Tool
H. - Tool
Parabola - Tool
Pet - A Perfect Circle
Judith - A Perfect Circle
Passive - A Perfect Circle
The Outsider - A Perfect Circle
yeah.... so this a random, hodgepodge entry.... enjoy. lol.

oh, lately
anyway, that's how they all looked, not that I mind that much, but they were also terribly too cool to speak to the attendant. I was also fine with that, because in real NYC galleries, the attendant basically ignores you unless you go out of your way to ask them a question. So I was very professional, right? Well my boss wanted me to talk, a daunting task. these interns were engrossed with themselves and their Pabst Blue Ribbons. ugh. whatever, after an hour I was permitted to go back to homebase and enjoy the real show with my friends. hooray!
I can't believe it is August already. Where did my summer go?? I spent it at work. A break seems like a dream.
Kolok Gallery Opening - Katrina M. d'Autremont

Opening is this Saturday, August 2, from 6 - 8 pm.
Born in Denver to an American father and an Argentine mother, Katrina Marcelle d'Autremont moves between two continents, locates home amid two cultures. Katrina seeks the familiar in the foreign, the transcendent in the immanent. Family, houses, and interiority animate her work. Investigating the relationship between people and place, she traces the formation and elaboration of identity.
Kolok Gallery represents and exhibits artwork by emerging and mid-career, nationally and internationally-based artists. Our goal is to form global relationships and collaborations with both local and international artists, art collectors and arts organizations.
