Do you ever wish there was a such thing as Lacuna, Inc.?
I do.

I found some old photographs I had taken for a class in 2005 today. As I looked over them, I was thrown back in a wave of nostalgia about my life at that time. At first I remembered the fun I had taking these photographs with my boyfriend at the time and a good friend, who were also taking the class. We groaned and procrastinated doing each assignment at the time, but looking back, these are some really great memories. Taking photos by candlelight late at night, or driving up the canyon one day. Then I remembered that entire semester. It was such a highpoint in my life, I had the world at my feet.
In class the other day we got talking about the last time we each felt truly alive. For me, the last time was in March when I was at a villa in Tivoli, Italy. I was outside in the gardens and leaned over the stone wall to look over the countryside. There was a light breeze and I just was so happy to be in one of the most beautiful places on earth.

The other time was in 2005 (do I talk about that year a lot?) when I saw The Used in SLC. I was near the front of the crowd, a rough place to be. I was getting pushed and shoved the whole time but I was with a new boyfriend who held my hand. The music was amazing live. It was an engulfing experience.
There are a few other times of course that I felt alive. What about you?

words from 20 years ago still ring true
I can't believe the news today
Oh, I can't close my eyes and make it go away
How long, how long must we sing this song?
How long, how long
Cause tonight
We can be as one tonight
And it's true we are immune
When fact is fiction and TV reality
And today the millions cry
We eat and drink while tomorrow they die
Oh, I can't close my eyes and make it go away
How long, how long must we sing this song?
How long, how long
Cause tonight
We can be as one tonight
And it's true we are immune
When fact is fiction and TV reality
And today the millions cry
We eat and drink while tomorrow they die
